Alpen Electric was established by Roland Turk in Oakland, California in 1980. Proudly committed to high standards in safety, design and installation, Alpen Electric stands out among the premier electrical contractors of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Alpen Electricís dedication to quality electrical work originated in 1953, in Schweinfurt, Germany, when Roland was a curious thirteen year old boy. An electrician was installing a new bell system in the apartment building where Roland lived with his family. The fascinated boy followed the man around, silently watching him work. Finally, the electrician asked Roland if he would like to learn to do electrical work. Roland was enthusiastic in his response and excited at the prospect of learning a trade since work was scarce in post WWII Germany. As luck would have it, the man who recognized young Rolandís interest was the Master Journeyman Electrician in charge of the local apprenticeship program. The young boy began a rigorous electrical apprenticeship which culminated with Roland Turk achieving the rank of Journeyman Electrician in 1956. That same year, Roland heard that Canada was offering visas to skilled laborers, and he immigrated to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Subsequently, he found gainful employment in the Northwest Territory where he worked as an electrician in an underground gold mine.

In 1960, Roland Turk was in California, and from 1960-1963, he served in the United States Army. After receiving an honorable discharge, Roland applied for U.S. citizenship and achieved his dream of becoming a citizen in 1965. Over the years, Roland Turk had a variety of experiences in electrical installation and construction. He worked for Hughes Tool, Litton Industries, Lockheed and The University of California. Meanwhile, he married and had two sons, studied management and obtained his California Electrical Contractorís license in 1980. That same year, he established Alpen Electric, named after the Alps of his native Bavaria.

Alpen Electric was incorporated in 2002. The business goals have always been quality electrical work, efficient time and resource management and client satisfaction. Alpen Electric employs sound business practices which have made this electrical contracting firm a word-of-mouth success and a longtime member of the Better Business Bureau. Alpen Electric has worked on a wide range of projects throughout the greater Bay Area, including: industrial improvements and maintenance, commercial installations, custom-built homes, service upgrades, landscape lighting installations and custom kitchen and bathroom remodels.

Rolandís son, Erich Turk, began working alongside his father as a teenager and entered into the business as a partner after graduating from The University of California in 2004.
